Wilson House

A holiday home where a family with grown children can come together, the design incorporated an open plan kitchen, dining and living area which flow out to a large upper level deck complete with an outdoor fire and BBQ area. The core living areas were situated upstairs allowing the occupants to make the most of magnificent 360˚ views of Lake Wakatipu, Coronet Peak and The Remarkables.

An aesthetic feature of the home, concrete stairs provides a link between the upper levels and lower levels, which encompasses four bedrooms and a second separate living area. In situ concrete walls, polished concrete floors and structural steel elements lend a clean, industrial feel to the modern residence, while the cedar and schist stone add natural warm tones to the interior. The exterior makes use of powder coated aluminium louvers, both as horizontal and vertical elements to provide privacy and shade.
